Explore How Utilities Can Help You Speed Your Energy Efficiency or Demand Response Ideas to Market

If you have a new energy efficiency or demand response technology then SoCalGas, SDG&E, SCE, PG&E and SMUD can help you bring your product to market and access rebates and incentives.

California utilities are once again offering the highly acclaimed TRIO Symposium to provide a venue for education and interactive discussion. This free event is a must attend for key stakeholders including entrepreneurs, investors, technology transfer officers, researchers, and other professionals interested in energy efficiency and demand response technology.

The Symposium gives attendees the opportunity to understand how to work with utility companies for advancement and implementation of energy efficiency and demand response technology in the electricity and gas markets.

This TRIO event is hosted by Southern California Gas, who will bring a special focus on gas technologies, while colleagues from the electric utilities will continue their discussion of electrical energy efficiency (EE) and demand response (DR).

Two new features of the symposium will be a technology posters and displays session for entrepreneurs and companies to display their technology and a one-on-one networking session in which attendees can have a brief individual meeting with utility representatives, third-party implementers, corporate partners and investors ("speed dating").  Note that posters and displays are over subscribed and now closed to new applicants.

The program is intended to de-mystify the utility company process. Utility representatives from all three California IOUs and SMUD will talk about:

  • How to use utility programs and incentives to drive market adoption and sales for your company.
  • Why regulatory drivers such as loading order and decoupling are important to entrepreneurs, investors, and researchers.
  • The role of demand response (DR) and integrated demand side management (IDSM).
  • The role of utility rebate and incentive programs, which focus on particular challenges for utilities.
  • The definition of Emerging Technologies (ET) and how the ET Program supports the introduction of new technologies.
  • The step-by-step process for introduction of new EE and DR technologies.
  • How to work with 3rd party implementers to install new technologies.
  • How investors can use utility company resources to assess opportunities.

PLEASE REGISTER UNDER ONLY ONE CATEGORY/TICKET TYPE. PLEASE RESPOND TO ALL QUESTIONS IN THE REGISTRATION PROCESS.

The Technology Resource Incubator Outreach (TRIO) Program is a statewide initiative by the members of the Emerging Technologies Coordinating Council (ETCC) designed to accelerate market introduction of energy efficient products and services by providing information, training, and access to energy utility resources. TRIO’s goal is to promote early stage innovations that will contribute to California’s energy savings targets for the future, as well as meeting national goals for energy efficiency. The ETCC is sponsored by the California utilities, California Energy Commission and California Public Utilities Commission.

Previous TRIO events were oversubscribed and space is limited.  We reserve the right to limit attendance to one representative from each organization. We reserve the right to limit attendance to energy efficiency related organizations. This event will not be a good fit for renewable energy, biofuels or other non-EE or non-DR companies.

Parking space is limited at ERC.  There is overflow parking near Sears on Woodruff Avenue. Please follow these links to PDF for Driving Directions and the Overflow Parking Map. For visitors to the area, please follow this link to a Local Directory of hotels and restaurants.
